Don't Miss The Carol H. Axelrod Memorial Blood Drive Tuesday

Help the drive reach its goal of collecting 522 units of blood in 2017.

WAYNE, PA – The Carol H. Axelrod Memorial Blood Drive is in its 10th year and is looking to generate even more blood for donations than in the past. This year, the drive is aiming to produce more than 500 units of blood throughout 2017.

You can stop by the Radnor Township Building to donate to the memorial drive from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 9.

This year, organizers want to generate 522 units of blood for those in need.

"If we can reach that goal, we will have collected enough blood to have helped as many as 10,000 patients spend more time with their families," the drive's website says.

Tuesday's drive will feature raffles, prizes, refreshments, and special surprises for donors.All donors will receive a gift bag, as well.

“A single car accident victim can need as many as 100 units of blood,” Alana Mauger, external communications manager for Penn-Jersey Red Cross Blood Services, said in a statement. “In trauma situations, when there’s no time to check a patient’s blood type, emergency personnel reach for type O negative red blood cells and type AB plasma.”
