Escaped Prisoner From Virginia Arrested In Delco Monday: Feds
Federal authorities said the man escaped custody in Virginia by kicking out a patrol car door while handcuffed in August.

BOOTHWYN, PA — An escaped inmate was arrested Monday morning in Delaware County after fleeing law enforcement in Virginia, according to federal authorities.
The Eastern District of Pennsylvania’s Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force arrested Trezith Smart at about 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16 on the 1600 block of Rolling Glenn Drive in Boothwyn.
Smart allegedly escaped local custody in Virginia by kicking out a patrol car door while handcuffed in August, authorities said.

Smart is being held at the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia where he is awaiting extradition back to the Eastern District of Virginia.
Eric Gartner, United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania stated “our rapid apprehension of this dangerous fugitive again demonstrates the strengths of collaborative law enforcement relationships to the benefit of the public interest.”

In December 2018, Smart was indicted by the Eastern District of Virginia for conspiracy to distribute cocaine, authorities said. He was believed to be traveling between North Carolina and the Philadelphia area, according to authorities.
Investigators with the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, U.S. Marshals Eastern District of Pennsylvania’s Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force, and the Drug Enforcement Administration, continued their fugitive investigation which ultimately led to Smart’s arrest in Pennsylvania.
