Pennsylvania Humanities Council event. Commonwealth Speaker, George W. Boudreau, the author of Independence: A Guide to Historic Philadelphia, will explore Independence Hall and the Square that surrounds it. Boudreau is an Associate Professor at Penn State. At the event, he will discuss why the hall sits where it does, why it looks like it does, and how its creation reflects the culture and society of 18thcentury Pennsylvania.
This presentation is a program of the PHC, a Federal-State
partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. The PHC inspires people to come together and share a life of learning. Since 1973, the PHC has providednresources that empower local groups to help their communities explore history, literature, the arts and the ideas that shape the human experience.
