Villanova University Mendel Medal Lecture, "Revolutions in Science and Society"

Reconciling religion and science, faith and reason continues to be a topic widely discussed—just as it was over 150 years ago when Gregor Mendel, an Augustinian scientist-priest known as the “Father of Modern Genetics,” made one of the biggest breakthrough scientific discoveries of all time: the fundamental laws of heredity. Villanova University honors the renowned accomplishments and scientific inquiry of this humble friar through the presentation of its Mendel Medal. In September, join this year’s Mendel Medal recipient, Ahmed H. Zewail, PhD, as he delivers the 2012 Mendel Medal Lecture, “Revolutions in Science and Society.” Dr. Zewail is a Nobel Prize winning scientist recognized for his pioneering developments in the sciences as well as his dedication to the promotion of education and partnership for world peace.
