W. A. Mozart: Requiem & Coronation Mass
The Wayne Oratorio Society presents two renowned Mozart choral works in one concert. The Requiem was composed in 1791 in Vienna and remained unfinished at the time of Mozart's death. The incomplete work was completed by a friend and fellow composer, Franz Xaver Süssmayr. The results of this posthumous coalition yielded the work audiences today know as Mozart's Requiem. The Krönungsmesse (Coronation Mass, KV 317), composed in 1779 in Salzburg, is one of the most popular of Mozart's seventeen Masses. It premiered at the cathedral in Salzburg on Easter Sunday, April 4, 1779.
Wayne Oratorio Society concerts are free. Free-will offering is taken. Early seating advised.
