Eight Treated For Smoke Inhalation After Wayne Apartment Fire

One resident, two Radnor Police officers, and five Radnor Fire Company firefighters were treated after an apartment fire broke out in Wayne.

WAYNE, PA — Eight people, including firefighters and police officers, were treated after responding to an apartment fire in Wayne Wednesday, according to Radnor Township officials.

Police and fire crews were called to Delmont Village Apartments on Morris Road in the Wayne section of Radnor Township at about 12:49 p.m. Wednesday for a building fire, according to the Radnor Fire Company.

Crews found smoke coming from a second floor apartment and began dousing the fire, the fire company said.

The fire was under control by 1:15 p.m. and the fire company said it began in a heater room then extended into the roof over the living area. Crews later found burned rafters extending from the front to the back of the apartment building.

The fire company said one resident, two Radnor Police officers, and five firefighters were taken to Bryn Mawr and Paoli hospitals for treatment for smoke inhalation.

All fire companies were clear by 2:34 p.m., according tot the fire company.

Radnor Fire Company was assisted by Berwyn and Newtown Square fire companies as well as Narberth and Marple Township ambulance services.
