Former NFL Quarterback Speaking About Addiction In Wayne

Former QB and current ESPN college football analyst Ryan Leaf will talk about addiction and recovery Jan. 14 at Radnor High School.

WAYNE, PA — The Radnor Township School District parent-teacher organizations and The Agnes Irwin School are teaming up to bring a former NFL quarterback to Radnor High School for a conversation about addiction and recovery.

At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at the Radnor High School, former NFL quarterback and behavioral health advocate Ryan Leaf will host a talk called "Vulnerable."

Leaf will discussion addiction and recovery through service to others.

The discussion is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Leaf, the second overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft, will speak to the community about addiction and sobriety. He will highlight his football career and his dream of becoming a professional athlete before sharing how these dreams began to unravel.

Tracing his journey to sobriety, Leaf will discuss topics such as the stress and pressures of being a successful teenager, drunk driving, gateway drugs, peer pressure, bullying and self-harm. A question-and-answer session will follow.

Leaf is an advocate for transforming the way society views mental health and addiction, with a personal mission of reaching those in need of hope that happiness and a better life can be achieved.

He is currently ESPN college football analyst and NFL Legends Community coordinator, helping former athletes make a successful transition to life after a high-profile career.

Leaf's visit marks the seventh collaborative effort between RTSD and AIS who previously welcomed clinical psychologist Dr. Wendy Mogel, child psychologist and anxiety expert Dr. Katherine Dahsgaard, best-selling authors and behavioral experts Rachel Simmons and Dr. Catherine Steiner-Adair, former NBA all-star, recovering addict and motivational speaker Chris Herren, and internationally recognized author, educator and social activist Rosalind Wiseman.

The Radnor Speaker Series is a private school/public school partnership between the Radnor Township School District parent-teacher organizations and The Agnes Irwin School. Each year, these organizations welcome a nationally known speaker/author to speak to the Radnor Township community on topics relevant to parenting and the health and wellbeing of our children.

Space is limited and pre-registration is requested. Students are encouraged to attend with their parents and guardians.
