Girl Pitcher Leads Philly Team to Little League World Series
This is the 17th time a girl has played in the national championship and the first time a team from Philadelphia has advanced this far.

The days of the school-yard taunt, “You throw like a girl,” may be coming to an end, thanks to the lights out effort by 13-year-old pitcher Mo’ne Davis, who helped lead the Taney Dragons to an 8-0 victory in the Mid-Atlantic Regional championship game, according to NBC10 News.
The win Sunday afternoon over Delaware-Newark National Little League means that the Taney Dragons have a spot in the Little League World Series.

The tournament starts Thursday in Williamsport, Pa.

According to its website, the Taney Youth Baseball Association was founded in 1994. About 1,000 boys and girls ages 5 to 15 participate in the association’s baseball, softball and tee-ball offerings in downtown Philadelphia.
