Help Erect Emlen Tunnell's Statue In Radnor Township
Tunnell was a Radnor grad, a football hall of famer, WWI hero, and a two-time NFL champion. Help honor his legacy in Delaware County.
RADNOR, PA – Emlen Tunnell is a treasure to the Radnor area. With a long and storied history involving the Main Line, football, war, and more, area residents are looking to honor Tunnell with a bronze statue that will show the pride Radnor has in their hometown hero.
The Sports Legends of Delaware County (SLDC) is looking to raise funds to erect a statue of Tunnell and you can help the cause.
So far, about a quarter of the $100,000 sought for the 7-foot-tall, bronze statue has been raised.

You can make donations to the effort online here. All donations are tax deductible.
Various sponsorship levels are available, each with its own benefit package, including $25 to $99 packages and packages going all the way up to $10,000.

The statue will be located Radnor Township Municipal Building lot when completed.
Tunnell was born and raised on the Main Line and was inducted in the Radnor High School Hall of Fame Inductee in 2003. After graduation he went on to play football in college, then joined the Coast Guard during WWII where he earned the Silver Lifesaving Medal after rescuing two servicemen after a torpedo attack on their ship.
He then went on to play football in college again before winning championships with the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers in 1956 and 1961, respectively.
He later became the first African American to be inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1967.
