How Did Marple Newtown HS Score On The Latest PA School Performance Profile?
Scores slightly dropped since last assessment.

According to the data, the high school earned an overall academic score of 87.4 points for the 2015-2016 school year. This number is up slightly from the 2014-2015 school year, where the high school garned an 86.4 score for overall academics.
Even with the overall score increase, the school saw drops in assessment areas of math, English language arts, and science and biology, the data shows.

One important area did see a nice increase, however. Graduation rates, which are listed as 89.64 percent in the 2014-2015 year, jumped to 96.14 in the latest assessment.
The assessment, done each year, gives each school a score of up to 100 using several factors, including test scores, student improvement from the past year, as well as graduation rates.
This year’s School Performance Profile scores are the first to reflect student performance on the new more rigorous PSSA, according to officials at the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Officials say the School Performance Profile is just one indicator of how schools are supporting student learning.
Because the formula used to determine the score is "heavily dependent" on standardized test scores, the department is working with stakeholders to determine how to make it a "better, more holistic measure," Pennsylvania Department of Education Secretary Pedro Rivera said.
