IRS Scam Caller Posed As Radnor Police, Authorities Say

Police said a resident in a Main Line municipality got a call from someone posing as Radnor Police, saying the resident owed the IRS money.

RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA – Radnor Township Police said a resident in a neighboring Main Line municipality got a call from a scammer posing as someone from the Radnor Police Department recently.

Police said a Tredyffrin Township resident told authorities that someone identified as "Mary Jones" from the Radnor Police Department contacted the resident to tell them they owed money to the IRS.

The resident hung the phone up and immediately notified Radnor Police.

According to police, the call came from (610) 688-0503, the Radnor Township Police Department phone number.

Radnor Police said anyone one who receives a similar call should not provide any personal information and should hang up the call immediately.

Those who get a similar call should call 911 so authorities can launch an investigation into the scam.
