With only a few weeks left in our first LingoKids session of the school year, registration is now open for Session II starting in January. Simply go to www.lingolanguagelearning.com and fill out online form - we will also have registration forms in your school's main office the first week of December.
Unfortunately, after much thought, we have decided that we will no longer offer classes in Mandarin Chinese at this time – it is an extremely hard language to learn, one that shares no common roots with English (while German, French, or Spanish are all based on Latin). Most parents do not speak or know enough Mandarin to help our students to really improve, and we have a wonderful Chinese School, the Great Wall School, right in Wayne. Private tutoring options are available.
We are thrilled to announce that we are offering our first class in American Sign Language (ASL) at Radnor Elementary School only. Teaching children ASL not only improves their spelling, but also enhances their communication skills, a skill set that seems to be diminishing these days with the use of texting and Facebook.

On another note: we also have started our new program for adults, our Language Lunches, where you can learn, maintain or improve conversational Spanish, French, or Italian in your lunch hour. Our second six-week session will start in January and we still have spots available.
Last but not least, we are working with Surrey Services in Berwyn to bring foreign languages and their cultures to seniors as well. Scientific evidence shows that being bilingual is a particularly good exercise for the brain and an excellent way to build cognitive reserves. While it does not prevent diseases like Alzheimer’s and dementia; it can help coping with them by delaying symptoms.
