Local Author Pens Children's Book About Kindness

A young puppy faces a dilemma in "Kitten Catches Kindness".

Sometimes children have to make adult-like decisions, like whether to listen to authority or do what they think is right. That dilemma is what inspired writer Dorothy Pisano, a resident of the Bryn Mawr section of Radnor Township, to write and publish "Kitten Catches Kindness".

Prince and Pincess, two sibling dogs living in the city, pass a pet orphanage every day in their travels, and Princess develops compassion for a very sad orphan kitty. She comes up with an idea: give her favorite toy to the cat so she can have some joy. But Prince doesn't like the idea and tries to dissuade her. Will Princess obey her heart or her brother?

"A lot of children have to make this decision. They make up their mind about something, but then are challenged by someone older," she said.

The idea for the book came from an experience Pisano had when she was a child with her older sister. Although Pisano is a seasoned freelance writer, this is her first book, published this year via Xlibris. Her son Domenic, a music teacher in Chester County, illustrated the book.

There is a surprising outcome and lessons for everyone in the book, Pisano said.
