Main Line Kosher BBQ Charity Fest Set For Aug 26

20 cooking teams will compete under the guidelines of the Kansas City Barbeque Society and scrutiny of the kosher supervisors Keystone K.

The air on the Main Line will be filled with the sweet, smoky, and spicy smells of 100 percent kosher barbecue as the Hava NaGrilla Kosher BBQ Charity Festival and Competition is returning to Wynnewood on Aug. 26.

The event will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 26 at The Men’s Club of Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El 1001 Remington Road in Wynnewood.

Twenty cooking teams will compete under the competition guidelines of the Kansas City Barbeque Society, as well as the scrutiny of the kosher supervisors Keystone K, organizers said.

They will be tasked with perfectly cooking full first and second cut brisket, 10 beef short ribs, one whole turkey, and 10 chicken thighs.

Their meals will be judged by notable Philly food names Abe Fisher head chef Yehuda Sichel, Steve Cook of the CookNSolo restaurant group, and Ristorante Pesto owner Giovanni Varallo.

Admission to the event costs $10 per person and $20 per family. Proceeds will benefit the Jewish Relief Agency. Get tickets here.

Thirty food, community, craft, and barbecue vendors will be serving up foods and offering information on their services.

Other event features include $5 mechanical bull rides, a premium scotch and bourbon table, and a pickle-eating contest.
