Main Line Kosher BBQ Competition A Greater Philly First

The event is the first ever mid-Atlantic barbecue competition to be sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society.

The greater Philadelphia area will see it's first ever kosher barbecue competition soon, as a Main Line temple is hosting the inaugural event later in August.

The first-ever Hava NaGrilla Smoke BBQ Festival will be held Sunday, Aug. 27 on the grounds of the Temple Beth Hillel-Beth El 1001 Remington Road, Wynnewood.

The event is sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society and will feature, drinks, activities, music, vendors, and of course kosher barbecue.

The event's goal is to promote Jewish values and foster community spirit while enjoying various kosher barbecue favorites, according to organizers.

The event is set to begin at 11 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.

Lunch and dinner will be available for purchase by the 2016 NYC Brisket King, the Wandering Que, until 6 p.m.

Activities include a pickle eating contest, a craft beer garden, balloon artists, a scotch and bourbon tasting table, mechanical bull riding, and more.

Single tickets cost $10, family tickets are $20, and registering for the pickle eating contest costs $20, as well. You can buy tickets online here.
