Main Line Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Young Girl In Church

The alleged incident occurred in a Berks County Church 10 years ago, and the man is now facing felony charges stemming from the accusation.

A Main Line man is facing felony charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a young girl in a Berks County church in 2006, according to court records and media reports.

Jonathan Scott Buchanan, 34, of Bryn Mawr, has been charged with felony statutory sexual assault; felony involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 16 years old; felony sexual assault; felony aggravated assault of a person less than 16 years old; and corruption of minors, according to court documents.

Buchanan was arraigned March 20 and released on $100,000 unsecured bail, court records show. He is scheduled to appear before a Berks County Judge on April 25 for his preliminary hearing.

The charges allege Buchanan sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl in a Sinking Spring, Berks County church in 2006, according to NBC10.

The outlet reports Buchanan allegedly assaulted the girl at a church function when he was helping her move equipment in a downstairs area of the church. He is also accused of then taking the victim in his vehicle to a secluded parking lot and sexually assaulted her again, according to NBC10.
