Man Accused Of Killing Ex-Wife In Wayne Wawa Heading To Trial

WAYNE, PA — The man accused of gunning down his ex-wife in a Wayne Wawa in March is heading to trial, according to court records.

Brian Kennedy, 34, of Devon, will stand trial on several charges, including murder, on July 29, court records show.

Kennedy is alleged to have shot and killed his ex-wife, Stephanie Miller, 37, at about 8:20 p.m. on March 28 at a Wawa located at Old Sugartown and Morris roads in the Wayne section of Radnor Township.

He is facing charges of first- and third-degree murder, homicide, possession of an instrument of crime, and recklessly endangering another person.

Kennedy is accused of using an AR-15-style rifle to shot Stephanie Miller, 37, in the head and torso at about 8:20 p.m. on March 28 at a Wawa located at Old Sugartown and Morris roads in the Wayne section of Radnor Township.

Authorities said Kennedy bought the rifle about two weeks before the shooting.

Delaware County District Attorney Katayoun Copeland said Kennedy and Miller had planned a meeting at the Wawa to exchange custody of their 6-year-old son.

However, around 8:20 p.m., Kennedy showed up not with their son, but with a rifle, Copeland said.
Miller died from gunshot wounds to the head and torso. Authorities arrested Kennedy about two hours later in Thornbury Park, Radnor Police said.

Court records show Kennedy previously pleaded guilty to a 2016 harassment charge in Delaware County for which he was fined $100. The victim at one point had a protection from abuse order against Kennedy, but that order had expired in September 2018, the District Attorney said.

According to NBC10, Miller's boyfriend Michael D'Arco spent thousands in legal bills before the protection from abuse order expired.

"That is why it was not renewed," he told the outlet. "Because Stephanie had been a victim of a judicial system that she got caught up in with no advocates. No help."

D'Arco told NBC10 he was planning to propose to Miller. He told the outlet Miller was "a selfless person that was the happiest soul that you could imagine.
