Man Gets Life In Former Villanova Professor's 2013 Murder
The Philadelphia man was sentenced to life without parole in connection with the 2013 murder of former Villanova professor Carol Ambruster.
VILLANOVA, PA — A Philadelphia man convicted of stabbing a former Villanova professor to death in her Philadelphia home in 2013 was hit with a life sentence in connection with the murder.
Jose F. Diaz, 48, of Philadelphia, was sentenced to life without parole for the murder of Carol Ambruster.
Ambruster, 69, was found about 9 p.m. on Dec. 9, 2013 with stab wounds to her neck and chest in the blood-spattered kitchen of her apartment in Philadelphia's Germantown section.

Diaz was also hit with a 5 to 10 year sentence for robbery, 5 to 10 years for burglary, and 1 to 2 years for possession of an instrument of crime.
Ambruster started at Villanova in 1987, and taught at the university until retiring in 2011. Her title was Assistant Professor of Astronomy and Astrophysics, according to Villanova.

Diaz was arrested Dec. 20 and was found guilty, as well as sentenced, on Monday, June 17.
