At about 12:17 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, Lansdowne Police responded to the Wells Fargo Bank at 65 W. Baltimore Ave. for a report of a holdup alarm activation.
While in route to the bank, Delaware County Emergency Services (DELCOM) gave a description of the suspect and his vehicle.
Police then found a vehicle matching the description on Baltimore Avenue, traveling east bound.
Police pulled over the vehicle and Simmons jumped out and attempted to flee.
With help from surrounding departments, police took Simmons into custody and found bank bait money on him after searching him.
A Wells Fargo bank teller later told police that she was approached by the defendant who banged against the bank counter glass and demanded that she give him money, asking for "hundreds in an envelope."
She said he told her not to hit the alarm and that a fellow bank employee was standing next to the defendant. Simmons told her "I got him (her co-worker) don't do anything, I have him."
The teller felt that the male was threatening her co-worker and gave the defendant the bank bait money, while hitting the bank holdup alarm.
As the defendant left the bank, he told another bank employee "back up off me before I shoot you."
