Multi-National Engineering Company Opens Its First US Office In Radnor

RADNOR, PA — Glanua, a multi-national engineering company headquartered in Ireland, recently opened its first American office in Radnor.

Glanua specializes in designing and constructing wastewater infrastructure for industrial clients, such as the pharmaceutical sector. The company also has a presence in the United Kingdom and Portugal.

Although Glanua has served American clients, the company has opened a new office inside the Radnor Financial Center to establish a known U.S. presence.

"Glanua has longstanding relationships with a number of manufacturing clients that are investing in, or expanding their operations in, the United States," a Glanua spokesperson told Patch. "The opening of our first U.S. office gives us a permanent base from which to support those existing relationships, while also developing new opportunities in the U.S. market."

In the short term, Glanua will focus on U.S. companies with complex wastewater needs, such as the pharmaceutical, life-sciences and food manufacturing. But Glanua says it envisions "longer-term opportunities across industrial water treatment, water reuse and advanced treatment technologies as manufacturers place greater emphasis on resilience, sustainability and water security."

Glanua also serves major water utilities in Ireland and the U.K. But for now, the company says it's focusing on specialty water and wastewater treatment systems.

"The scale of investment in pharmaceutical and advanced manufacturing facilities in the U.S. is creating strong demand for specialist water and wastewater engineering expertise," Karl Zimmerer, Glanua's group managing director, said in a statement. "We have developed that expertise through our work on some of Europe’s most complex projects and see a clear opportunity to support clients and engineering partners in the US.

In early September, U.S. Operations Director Mark McKeever became Glanua's first directly employed hire in the United States and the company's 750th employee overall.

He was initially joined by several Glanua engineers. But the company says local recruitment is underway, with plans to hire 200 people in the U.S.

Before rebranding in 2023, Glanua was known as BHSL, which acquired several similar companies across Ireland and the U.K since its founding in 2006.

Glanua expanded to mainland Europe with an engineering hub in Portugal, which opened late last year.

The private company says it recorded about $175 million in revenue last year and plans to grow annual revenue to $450 million by 2028.
