New Traffic Light System Launches Tuesday In Radnor

The system adapts traffic signals to the actual demand of traffic and will be at 13 intersections near Penn Medicine's new facility.

WAYNE, PA — A new traffic light system will launch at 13 intersections Tuesday in Radnor Township.

A traffic adaptive signal system will go live Tuesday near Penn Medicine’s new facility at 145 King of Prussia Road.

Traffic adaptive systems are hardware and software-based systems that adapt traffic signals to the actual demand of traffic.

The following intersections are part of the new system:

  • King of Prussia and Matsonford roads
  • Lancaster Avenue and Blue Route Northbound off-ramp
  • King of Prussia and Raider roads
  • Lancaster Avenue and Blue Route Northbound ramp (Hillside)
  • King of Prussia and Radnor Chester roads
  • Lancaster Avenue and Blue Route Southbound ramp
  • Matsonford and South Centennial roads
  • Lancaster Avenue and Radnor Chester road
  • Matsonford and North Centennial roads
  • Lancaster Avenue and St. David's Square (east)
  • Radnor Chester and Office Center roads
  • Lancaster Avenue St. David's Square (west)
  • Radnor Chester and Raider roads

Adjustments may need to be made to the system once it goes online, and drivers are asked to be patient as the system launches.

Over the next two weeks, representatives from Rhythm Engineering and Radnor Township Police Department will be monitoring the aforementioned intersections to determine if any changes must be made.

The system was designed and funded as part of Penn Medicine's land development process.
