SDEDS is a coeducational, private, independent school "inspires lifelong learners by providing the highest quality education in an inclusive environment that embraces individuality, nurtures the whole child, and fosters character development grounded in the spiritual values of the Episcopalian tradition."
Not to be confused with St. David’s Nursery School and Kindergarten, SDEDS is associated with St. David’s Episcopal Church and is located in the church’s Knewstub Education Building.
"At St. David’s Episcopal Day School, our mission is to inspire lifelong learners by providing the highest quality education in an environment that embraces individuality, nurtures the whole child, and fosters character development grounded in the spiritual values of the Episcopalian tradition," Dr. Marissa Kiepert Truong, head of school at SDEDS, said. "We look forward to welcoming children and families of all faiths into our school as we focus on the values of respect, diversity, individuality, kindness, citizenship, perseverance, and integrity."
SDEDS will host two open houses for interested families, children and community members at noon on Sunday, Oct. 22 and Sunday, Dec. 10 at the school, 765 South Valley Forge Road, Wayne. Private tours are also available throughout the fall and can be scheduled online here.
"Interactive learning environments, small teacher-to-student ratios and individualized instruction are all keystones of our approach to education," Brooke Choate, M.A., director of academic support at SDEDS, said. "One size does not fit all in education, which is why we regularly ensure each student’s needs are being properly addressed, and provide personalized support and enrichment as necessary."
In addition to hands-on curriculum, SDEDS education incorporates a wide range of extracurricular activities — such as the arts, Spanish, physical education, chapel, and music — to support the development of well-rounded, intellectually curious children.
"Very simply, SDEDS encourages students to 'Learn, Love, Lead,'" Truong said. "We are not only teaching our children for today, we are preparing them to thrive and become responsible leaders tomorrow."
