The Night at the Ball Park Wiffleball Classic & Fireworks Event, which will be in its 9th year in 2020, has been selected as the winner of the Excellence in Recreation and Parks Award by the Pennsylvania Recreation & Parks Society (PRPS). The Recreation & Community Department is proud to be once again recognized with this prestigious award!

The Night at the Ball Park Wiffleball Classic & Fireworks event has been taking place since 2012 and quickly evolved a highly-regarded summer tradition as well as one of the Department’s most popular annual community events. Night at the Ball Park is a unique event that welcomes members from across the community and is set within a baseball atmosphere at Encke Park Little League Baseball Park, one of Radnor Township’s most treasured active parks. Participants who might otherwise not have the opportunity to enjoy or play at the park on the baseball fields, have a chance to experience them through the event’s core focus, a family-friendly wiffleball charity fundraiser for Delaware County Special Olympics. The event includes a special night filled with a range of appealing baseball activities, wiffleball play, festive games, concessionary foods, local Philadelphia sports team mascots, and an incredible display of fireworks that takes place at Cappelli Driving Range, another treasured Township park and open space area adjacent to Encke Park. The Recreation Department teams up with several key organizations to lead the event including the Township’s own Radnor Wayne Little League, Delaware County Special Olympics, and the Sports Legends of Delaware County Museum. An array of community-civic and sports organizations, businesses, and multiple layers of Township staff take part each year, making this event celebration of America’s baseball pastime filled with lasting memories.
