No Jail For Ex Villanova Student Who Pleaded To Sexual Assault

Elijah Joseph Katzenell was sentenced to seven years of probation as part of a plea deal in connection with the 2022 incident.

VILLANOVA, PA — A former Villanova University student will not spend time behind bars after pleading guilty to one count of sexual assault, according to court documents.

Elijah Joseph Katzenell, 22, of Clarksburg, Maryland, pleaded guilty to sexual assault Monday.

As part of the plea deal, Katzenell was sentenced to seven years of probation.

He will also be a lifetime registered sex offender, on house arrest for a year, and must stay away from the victim and the university, court records show.

Katzenell told the victim he had sex with her after she became highly intoxicated on Aug. 25, 2022 in a university dorm room, according to the Delaware County Daily Times.

The victim told investigators she did not consent to sex, nor did she remember having sex with Katzenell, the outlet reports.
