Peter's Place's Evergreen Gala

Gala to help support grieving children and families

Peter’s Place, a center for grieving children and families, will host its spring party and fundraiser on Saturday, May 9th, when the season is in full bloom. Event co-chairs, Kerry Sophocles and Liz Cahill, will host 250 guests at the Merion Golf Club for Evergreen, a festive evening designed to celebrate Peter’s Place and increase awareness of its mission. Guests will enjoy dinner, dancing to live music, and a live and silent auction.

Since 2001, Peter’s Place has been providing a safe and supportive environments for grieving children and families and acting as a community resource to foster understanding of the effects of death and grief. At Peter’s Place’s Radnor center, they offer peer support groups for children ages 4-17 and their caregivers, and for young adults ages 18-25. In addition to these programs, Peter’s Place brings grief support groups to children in schools throughout the Philadelphia region. More than 600 children, caregivers, and young adults were served through groups at Peter’s Place’s center and in schools last year alone. The Peter’s Place staff also educates professionals about childhood grief, indirectly serving 14,000 children annually, and is actively engaged in research to identify the needs of grieving people and find ways to best to meet those needs.

Peter’s Place touches thousands of lives each year through peer support groups and education. Peter’s Place does not charge for its support services and depends on funds raised at special events, as well as contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations, to fulfill its mission and sustain its service. The funds raised by Evergreen assure that no one is turned away for financial reasons.
