Police Announce DUI Crackdown Through The New Year
Increased sobriety checkpoints, roving patrols and regular traffic safety patrols are planned in Delaware County through the New Year.

Law enforcement in Delaware County will be increasing DUI enforcement as part of the “Operation Safe Holiday” campaign.
Sobriety checkpoints, roving patrols and regular traffic safety patrols will be used to crack down on motorists who are driving while impaired during the holiday season.
PennDOT, state and local police, the Pennsylvania DUI Association, the Delaware County District Attorney, the Delaware County TMA, Mothers Against Drunk Driving and AAA Mid-Atlantic held a news conference Monday at the Haverford Township Police Department to announce the regional impaired-driving enforcement.

The Pennsylvania State Police and hundreds of municipal police departments statewide are partnering with PennDOT to increase traffic safety enforcement through the New Year’s holiday.
The operation is funded partly by PennDOT’s statewide distribution of $4.6 million in federal funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Last year, there were 4,184 crashes and 41 fatalities statewide during the Christmas and New Year travel periods.
