Police Will Be at Radnor High Tuesday Following Lockdown

The lockdown was prompted by the discovery of a single bullet in the hallway, Radnor Township School District officials said.

Radnor, PA -- A police officer will be at Radnor High School Tuesday morning to provide “reassurance” to staff and students following a Monday lockdown that was prompted by the discovery of a bullet.

The single bullet was located in a school hallway by a student around 10 a.m., Radnor Township School District officials said. That student then told a staff member, and district administrators immediately notified Radnor Township Police.

When police arrived, officers conducted an interior and exterior search of the building. There was “no imminent threat or danger,” according to the district. “All students and staff members were deemed safe and secure” at that time.

However, police called in bomb sniffing dogs to the school around 12:30 p.m. to conduct a full sweep. That is when the school was placed on a Level 2 lockdown.

“During a Level 2 Lockdown, all corridor and classroom doors are locked with students and staff members kept safely behind doors,” the district said.

Police finished the search later in the afternoon and found no other items of concern.

“Out of an abundance of caution, all RHS after-school activities were canceled for the day to allow the police to finish their investigation,” the school said.

The police officer will be at the school Tuesday “to provide additional reassurance” for staff and students.
