Thousands Of PECO Customers Affected By Monday Outage In Radnor

Downed wires caused the outage and shut down part of Lancaster Avenue Monday morning.

About 5,000 PECO customers in the Radnor Township area were out of power Monday morning after power lines went down on Lancaster Avenue, according to PennDOT and PECO.

The township said some traffic lights were affected by the outage and are urged residents to use caution at intersections where traffic lights are not working.

PennDOT officials said downed wires shut down part of Lancaster Avenue/U.S. route 30 between the Interstate 476 interchange and state Route 320 for about two hours.

PECO officials said at about 8:20 a.m. the wires down near I-476 and causing an outage for about 35 minutes.

Officials said the downed wires caused the outage, but crews are still investigating what brought the wires down.

As of 11:45 a.m., PECO said about 16 customers in the area are still without power.

Anyone who see downed wires should contact PECO and 911, as the township said the wires could be carrying electricity.

PECO and the Radnor fire company and police are working to resolve the outage, the township said.
