"I get a little bit emotional looking at this," the freshman student told 6ABC. "I don't know if this will ever go away off the door. And every time I look at it, it will be a reminder of someone's hatred towards me because of the color of my skin."

Luckily, the student and her friends were able to scrub the message form the door and put up Halloween decorations, the outlet reports.

On its website, the university shared a photo of student made flyers that share messages of love, inclusion, and diversity that were made following the racist message's appearance.

"Our students have demonstrated an amazing amount of love in the face of hate, and they are living our Education of the Heart philosophy to the fullest," the university said.
