Radnor 7th Grader Wins Middle School Geographic Bee
Seventh grader Lucas Fraser can win a $50,000 college scholarship should he continue to advance at the state and national levels of the bee.

WAYNE, PA – Students in Radnor Middle School showed their international knowledge recently at the school's annual Geographic Bee and the winner has a chance to go on and win a substantial college scholarship.
In total, 10 Radnor Middle School put their knowledge of the world to the test in front of a packed auditorium during the school's annual Geographic Bee competition on Jan. 12, the Radnor Township School District said.
This year's finalists were: Leon Chen, Noah Conen, Lucas Fraser, Cormac Harper, Theodore He, Sam Hilbert, Reese Hillman, Harry Stein, Josh Tessler and Norbert Tran.

It was Fraser who was the last student standing, following several tie-breaker questions with Chen.
Fraser's win get him a chance to take an online qualifying test by Feb. 2. The 100 highest-scoring students in Pennsylvania will advance to the state bee on April 6.

Nationals will take place May 20 through May 23 in Washington, D.C. First prize at nationals includes a $50,000 college scholarship.
In the Jan. 12 competition at the middle school, each participant had a chance to answer questions in format similar to a spelling bee. But just two incorrect answers means elimination and the finalists were quickly narrowed to Fraser and Chen.
Each year thousands of schools in the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee using materials prepared by the National Geographic Society, the district said.
The contest is designed to inspire students to be curious about the world. Schools with students in grades four through eight are eligible for the competition.
National Geographic will air the final round of the National Geographic Bee Championship in May 2018.
