Radnor Cops Launch Suspicious Activity Hotline After Commissioner's Child Porn Charges
As residents of Ward 7 cope with their commissioner's child porn scandal, police are hoping the new resource will provide peace of mind.

RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA – Radnor Township Police have launched a new "Suspicious Activity Hotline" after 7th Ward Commissioner Phil Ahr was hit with child pornography charges recently, causing much unease among residents.
Police announced the hotline Wednesday night, saying the line is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for residents to report current or past suspicious activity or incidents that have made the public feel unsafe.
"To the men, women and children of Ward 7; we know you have been through some very difficult times during this past month, and it is unknown how long this period of uncertainty will continue," police said. "We are your protectors, your neighbors, and your friends. You are an integral part of the Radnor family, and we will do everything in our power to ensure you are safe, and your quality of life continues to remain as high as it’s always been."

The hotline number is (610) 687-8851 and will be open as long as necessary, police said.
"You can call us 24 hours a day, but if the incident you are reporting is occurring in real time, please call 9-1-1 for an immediate response," police said. "You can call anonymously, or you can call and ask for confidentiality."

Police said residents can also leave call back information for an officer to contact them in person within 24 hours.
"We will maintain a log of all incidents reported and keep you, the residents updated at all times," police said.
Ahr stepped down as the Radnor Township Board of Commissioners President about a week after he was arrested and charged with 10 counts of disseminating child pornography, 50 counts of child pornography possession, 60 counts of criminal use of a communication facility, and 10 counts of attempted dissemination of child pornography.

Ahr, however, said he would maintain his seat as the 7th Ward Commissioner, drawing ire from residents. One resident even launched a petition calling for Ahr to resign wholly from the board.
Commissioners voted on a new president Monday, but failed to reach an agreement on a new leader, keeping Vice President Elaine Schaefer as the acting president.
Ahr is free on 10 percent of $100,000 bail and is slated to appear for his preliminary hearing on Nov. 30.
