Radnor Elementary School 6th Annual 5K SMART Run fundraiser scheduled for April 26

Radnor Elementary School SMART run promotes fitness and benefits shool technology program.

Area residents are invited to shake off the long winter and celebrate spring with the 6th annual RES SMART Run 5K at Radnor Elementary School Sunday, April 26, 2015.

Proceeds from the annual run benefit the school by providing funds for the purchase of SMART technology. In addition, the event promotes a SMART lifestyle for Radnor students and their families.

The family-friendly event also features a 1-mile Fun Run at 8:30 a.m. prior to the 5K at 9:00 a.m. Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. at the school, 20 Matsonford Road, Radnor 19087. Participants are invited to a pre-race stretch at 8:15 a.m.

Online registration is available through the SMART Run website, RES5K.com. The deadline for online registration is Wednesday, April 22nd. For volunteer or sponsorship information, visit the website or call Karen Dickson at 610-999-8947.

The race attracts hundreds of runners each year, with a scenic route through the adjacent St. David’s neighborhood beginning and ending on the RES playground. Awards will be given to the top male and female finishers overall, as well as age-group awards, in the 5K. Race day events also will feature a DJ, refreshments and raffles for camps, classes and gift certificates from a variety of local fitness clubs and merchants.

In conjunction with the run, the RES PTO sponsors the RES 5K Running Club to promote the enjoyment and benefits of running. The non-competitive running program promotes fitness among students and focuses on exercise, healthy nutrition and doing good deeds at home and in the community. The club also offers a fun way for students to train in preparation for the SMART Run 5K.

Registration fees before April 26th are $60 per family, $10 for students 18 and under and $20 for adults. On race day, registration fees are $75 per family, $15 for students 18 and under, and $25 for adults. For more information and to register, visit RES5K.com.
