Radnor High Class Of 2016 Had Highest ACT Scores In School's History, District Says

Congrats to Radnor High School's Class of 2016 for their record-breaking ACT scores.

Radnor High School's Class of 2016 earned the highest average composite score for the American College Testing (ACT) assessment in school history, district officials announced this week.

More members of the Radnor High School Class of 2016 took test than any other graduating class in the school’s history. A total of 143 RHS students took the test last year, up from 104 students the year before, the district said.

The average composite score for Radnor students was a 27.1 out of a possible 36. That's four points higher than the average composite score for Pennsylvania (23.1) and nearly seven points higher than the national average composite score (20.8), according to the district.

“Radnor High School is focused on allowing students to pursue their passions and preparing them to succeed after they leave our halls," RHS principal Dan Bechtold said in a statement. "In 2015, our ACT scores were a five-year high in all individual subject areas, as well as in the composite score. In 2016, our students rose to the challenge and set the bar even higher. As a school we are proud of our students many accomplishments. Their dedication in the classroom, on the athletic fields and the theater stage, and in the concert hall showcase the diverse and varied talents of our student body. This is just another example of their hard work paying off.”

The ACT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions, according to the Princeton Review. The test assesses English, reading, math, science and writing.
