Radnor Hiring Temporary Public Works Crew Member

The job requires some heavy lifting, so apply if you can handle physically demanding work.

WAYNE, PA – Radnor Township is looking to hire a temporary worker to help out its public works crews. Applicants should apply only if they are capable of performing physically demanding work.

The job is with the township's Public Works Department and involves routine, heavy manual labor including the collection and disposal of solid household waste products, newspaper and other recyclable materials on designated routes.

Other duties include routine, heavy manual labor duties for Highway Department, Parks Maintenance Department and leaf collection duties among other manual labor as assigned.

The position reports to the Refuse Department Supervisor and requires the ability to occasionally exercise independent judgement.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED with one year of experience in related work required. Applicants with some mechanical skills are preferred.

The job description says the work is "moderate to difficult" and entails walking or standing for prolonged periods of time; bending, stooping, squatting, reaching above shoulder level, kneel, lift; and carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds. Occasionally object up to 100 pounds will need to be moved, too.
