Radnor Leaders Join Delaware County Task Force on Criminal Justice Reform

Delaware County Council and the Office of the District Attorney announced the formation of a countywide Task Force on Criminal Justice Reform, to be chaired by District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer. “We’re all working together because we have a common goal: To let everyone in Delaware County know that black and brown lives matter, that LGBTQ lives matter,” Stollsteimer said. “Everyone in our county deserves fair and equal justice.”

The Task Force will be split into four working groups and will include members of police departments throughout the county, state legislators and community activists. Radnor Township Superintendent of Police Christopher B. Flanagan, Radnor Township Commissioner Moira Mulroney and Reverend Dr. Manuel “Bumper” Howard will serve on the 21st Century Policing. "I am honored to have been asked by District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer to be a part of the Delaware County Task Force on Criminal Justice Reform,” said Commissioner Mulroney. “I’ll be serving as a member of the 21st Century Policing working group with impressive people from throughout the county who bring broad and diverse perspectives. I am eager to get started."

The nomination of three Radnor Township leaders is an acknowledgment of an ongoing, Township-wide commitment to community relations programming. The relationship the Radnor Township community leaders share with the larger Delaware County community is key to ongoing communication, trust and success.

“We are humbled to serve on a committee that represents all boarders of Delaware County. It is important to understand how people feel in the community we serve. To have three members of Radnor Township serve on the Task Force will help Radnor look to and prepare for the future,” said Superintendent Flanagan.

The Task Force goal is "to foster and support a culture of trust, integrity and accountability in Delaware County’s criminal justice system and in county government," county Council Vice Chairman Dr. Monica Taylor said, adding that the goal is to foster and build relationships among law enforcement, county government and community members.

“The Delaware County Task Force for 21st Century Policing has already moved into action to address the current concerns locally and nationally,” said Rev. Dr. Manuel “Bumper” Howard. “I am honored to be part of such a dynamic group of diverse leaders from Delaware County. These transformational leaders are focused on bringing solutions to challenging issues we face today. I look forward to impacting change for the good of all people.”
