The student-led dance marathon fundraiser will support Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital.

"I wanted to bring Mini-THON to Radnor Middle School for lots of reasons," 7th-grader Michael McNicholas said. "I wanted to raise awareness, find a cure and help other kids."

Modeled after the Penn State Dance Marathon, Four Diamonds Mini-THONs empower students to learn about event management and philanthropy by joining in the fight against childhood cancer, according to the Radnor Township School District.

Seventh-graders Lillian Games, Jun Jung, Paige Leflar, Sydney O'Shea and 8th-grader Tessa Klimowicz join McNicholas on the RMS leadership committee.

"It's really nice to know that the money we are fundraising is going to help," McNicholas said. "It makes me feel really good inside."

The money raised helps cover medical expenses for families that have children battling pediatric cancer and supports research for a cure, the district said.

Last year, more than 265 schools held Mini-THONs and raised a combined $6.4 million for Four Diamonds, according to the district.

"I'm excited for the entire event, especially human foosball and a line dance," McNicholas said. "The thing I am most excited for is our special guests. I can't reveal anything about them, but I'm excited to see the reactions when they walk in through the door."

In addition to the student chairs, the RMS leadership committee includes RMS teachers Chrisie Dougherty, Brad Lord, Megan Quarino and Jon Savitch and RMS parent Greg McNicholas.
