Radnor Parents Continue to Advocate for Math Excellence

ACTION: Please Attend! November 11th, 4 PM

RTSD school board curriculum committee meeting will be held on Tuesday 11/11 at 4 PM on the ground floor of the administration building located at 135 S. Wayne Avenue in Wayne.

Our elementary schools have put out a variation of the following information:

School Board Curriculum Committee Meeting on Tuesday.The matter of the Elementary Math curriculum will be discussed during the School Board Curriculum Committee meeting on Tues, Nov 11th at 4 pm in the Administration Building on S. Wayne Avenue. The Board is being asked to raise the priority and set a timeline for the review of the math curriculum due to a high number of parent concerns districtwide with the current EverydayMath curriculum. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

We hope you will attend, and if possible stand up during public comment to have your voice heard, share an experience or voice a concern.

We would like the district and the board to hear the many voices of the parents. The parents who see the math crisis on a daily basis, who combat Everyday Math via extra work at home, paying for private tutors, and programs with their and their children’s time and money. Parents who will be shocked when their children are placed in remedial math classes in college because they didn’t take their child’s math education into their own hands. Parents whose children are being mathematically crippled by the continued use of Everyday Math in our classrooms.

As our RTSD school board president Eric Zajac has said: “Sometimes circumstances arise and action has to be taken more quickly than more slowly,” Let’s come together on Tuesday 11/11 and let them know that this is one of those circumstances. We can share our voices with The RTSD School Board, the people we have elected to make these decisions, and the people who have the ability to decide that it is time to provide a superior math experience for our children.
