Radnor PD Superintendent Being Honored By Villanova University

VILLANOVA, PA — Radnor Police Superintendent Chris Flanagan will be presented with Villanova University's inaugural Caritas Town Gown Award for his commitment to continuing to expand and strengthen the relationship between the township and school.

Flanagan will be honored in a ceremony Monday, Aug. 26 at 9 a.m., in the President’s Lounge in Connelly Center. Villanova University President, the Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, will present Flanagan with the award.

Villanova established the Caritas Town Gown Award to honor individuals that serve as champions and advocates for strengthening the relationship and work between the local community and the University.

Flanagan has played a key role in a number of University-Township initiatives, including increased outreach to students living off-campus, off-campus housing orientation, a Back-to-School Barbecue at Home Properties and the creation of The Good Neighbor Guide—a publication given to students reminding them that good neighbor is vital to ensuring a positive, successful relationship between the University, its students and the community.

"It is a pleasure to work alongside Chief Flanagan in an effort to better connect Villanova University with the Radnor Township community," said Laura Wagoner, Assistant Director of Government and Community Relations. "The initiatives we have partnered on have made a tremendous impact and we look forward to continuing those efforts. Chief Flanagan has been an immeasurable resource to the University and our local community."

The award also recognizes Flanagan’s leadership in maintaining a cooperative, productive relationship between Radnor Police and Villanova’s Department of Public Safety.

"The Villanova University Public Safety Department and the University deeply value the collaborative relationship with our local law enforcement partners, especially Radnor Police,” said David Tedjeske, Director of Public Safety and Chief of Police at Villanova University. "By working together, we continue to provide the best service to ensure our communities stay safe."
