Radnor Residents Storm Meeting To Close CBD Kratom Store
The cannabis store is closed until owners obtain building permits from the township to open.

RADNOR, PA — About 40 Radnor residents stormed the township meeting Monday night objecting to a cannabis store opening in the township on Lancaster Avenue at the location of a Starbucks, which closed in 2020.
Residents expressed fear of their children having easy access to purchase cannabis and other questionable substances. The store, 218 E. Lancaster Ave., Wayne, sells Kratom, cannabis, vitamins and more.
Kate Hart, a resident, read a letter signed by 88 residents and business owners who are opposed to the CBD Kratom store opening last Thursday without anyone knowing about it in advance. It has since closed.

“Stores of this kind do not fit in with the culture and character of our community,” Hart said. “Wayne is a community built on a safe place for our children.”
Hart said the store sells Kratom and CBD, which should not be available to students.

“Having a store like this in our community normalizes drugs for our children,” she said.
John Ryan, solicitor, said that the owners of the shop had not contacted the township about the plan to open.
“There were no meetings and no permits given to that organization,” Ryan said. “It’s closed. They were told they could not open without permits. They need permits.”
No law preventing cannabis dispensaries
Ryan said there is no state law in Pennsylvania that allows a municipality to ban cannabis dispensaries. The issue is before the state legislature.
Susan Stern, a resident, thanked the commissioners and township officials for closing the store.
Resident Heather Gill questioned if zoning approval is necessary.
“It doesn’t fit in this town,” Gill said.
CBD Kratom, headquartered in St. Louis, could not immediately be reached for comment.
