Radnor School District Hosting MLK Day Of Service Jan 20

Students, parents and staff in the district can take on numerous volunteer project during the district's fourth annual MLK Day Of Service.

RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA — On Monday, Jan. 20, students, parents, and staff of the Radnor Township School District are invited to join a day of volunteering in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The district is hosting its fourth annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20 at Radnor High School.

Volunteers will engage in hands-on service projects for volunteers of all ages and donation collections to benefit a variety of local organizations.

Additional activities include a bake sale, 50/50 raffle, hoops for helping, and more.

This year's service activities include:

  • creating "Blizzard Bags" filled with non-perishable food items for the Wayne Church Food Pantry;
  • assembling activity kits for children in the Bryn Mawr Hospital Pediatric Unit;
  • making care packages for the Rosemont Care & Rehabilitation Center and Wayne Senior Center;
  • writing thank you letters for Operation Gratitude;
  • assembling and decorating lunch bags and building hygiene kits for the Life Center of Eastern Delaware County;
  • decorating kid pack bags for Cradles to Crayons; packing essential items into reusable tote bags for Valley Youth House;
  • creating bookmarks and attaching to donated books for Reach Out and Read (ROAR) Philadelphia;
  • organizing mother and baby kids for Cityteam Chester.

Donation items needed are:

  • for Cityteam Chester
    • diapers (any size) for
  • for Cradles to Crayons
    • new (in package) socks and underwear for children
  • for Philadelphia Welfare Society (Philly PAWS)
    • towels (new or used/clean)
    • canned pet food
    • paper towels
    • bleach
    • laundry detergent
    • heavy duty contractor bags
  • for the Wayne Church Food Pantry.
    • non-perishable food items (boxed, canned or dry goods)

Additional proceeds will be donated to the Radnor A Better Chance program.
