Radnor Schools Hosting Talk On New Anonymous Reporting System

The new Safe2Say Something Anonymous Reporting System just hit every PA school, and Radnor officials want to help you better understand it.

RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA – A new anonymous reporting system is now in place at Pennsylvania schools, and officials with the Radnor Township School District and Radnor Police want to help district families better understand it.

After the Pennsylvania General Assembly passed Act 44 last year, every Pennsylvania school entity starting Jan. 14 will use the "Safe2Say Something" (S2SS) Anonymous Reporting System.

"S2SS is a youth violence prevention program run by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General," according to the S2SS website. "The program teaches youth and adults how to recognize warning signs and signals...from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and to 'say something' before it is too late."

The Radnor Township School District is inviting district parents and guardians to an informational session on the S2SS at 9 a.m., Friday, Feb. 8 with Radnor High School Alliance for Safe Kids (ASK) at Radnor High School.

Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office said all teachers in grades six through 12 are required to be trained in S2SS. Although it is not required, the district will also provide training to sixth through 12th grade students and is working on a schedule to complete these trainings.

Certain district staff members have been selected as the district’s core response team for tips submitted through the S2SS app, website and hotline.

These staff members participated in required training in December 2018. Radnor Police officers have also attended training on the new system.

"We are confident in the effectiveness of the current processes in place both within the district and when working with the Radnor Police," the district said in a statement on the new system. "We will continue to employ these procedures to address and resolve student safety and security concerns. We value the relationship the district and the police have built and we will work closely together as we have in the past.

"S2SS is simply another layer of security added to our existing protocols," the district said. "To that end, we must stress that a person’s first step in the case of any potentially life-threatening or emergency situation should always be calling 911."

Radnor Hugh School is located at 130 King of Prussia Road in Wayne.
