Radnor SD Holding District-wide Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration For First Time Ever

The day will honor King's legacy through community activism.

Radnor Township School District is holding its first ever district-wide Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration, which includes lots of places to which you can donate and community service projects to honor King's legacy of community activism.

The celebration, which is open to district students and families only, will be Monday, Jan. 16 from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Radnor High School.

All schools will be closed in observance of the holiday, but student, staff and parent volunteers will offer their free time to participate in a variety of charitable projects, according to the district.

Attendees can expect educational speakers, hands-on service projects, raffle items, baked goods, a photo booth, entertainment, games and more, the district said.

Speakers include "Stories of Hope and Inspiration," presented by Laurel House; "Teaching Kids to Care," presented by RTSD director of secondary education Dr. Anthony Stevenson; "How to Help Haiti," presented by Janell Iyer; and "Being a Good Citizen," presented by the Radnor Police Department.

There are lots of organizations taking donations at the event and many community serivce project for attendees to help with.
