Radnor Special Needs Students Performing 'The Nutcracker'
Saint Katherine School students from Radnor and Radnor will be performing a special version of "The Nutcracker" Friday morning.
RADNOR, PA — The Saint Katherine School in Radnor will host a special performance of a holiday classic Friday.
From 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Saint Katherine students will perform a special production of "The Nutcracker" at the school, 930 Bowman Ave. in Wynnewood.
Valerie Amiss, a former dancer and current teacher at The Pennsylvania Ballet, choreographed the special production.

This version of "The Nutcracker" is the first ever to be performed entirely by people with intellectual disabilities.

The Pennsylvania Ballet began working with Saint Katherine School students in 2017 as part of their I AM initiative.
Saint Katherine serves students ages 4 and a half to 21 years old, with an I.Q. below 70, at two locations.
The main campus in Wynnewood offers a program for students with multiple impairments, as well as a life skills program, which includes functional academics.
The high school program, located in Radnor at Archbishop John Carroll High School, offers a life skills program including functional academics and vocational training.
