Radnor Student Newspaper Wins 4 Student Keystone Press Awards
The Radnorite, which is run by students with two faculty advisors, won four awards at the 2020 Student Keystone Press Awards.
RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA — Radnor High School's student newspaper recently took home several awards at a Pennsylvania student press award event.
The Radnorite, which is run by student editors with guidance from faculty advisors Rick Dunbar and Trevor Payne, won four awards at the 2020 Student Keystone Press Awards.
Sophomore Ellie Davis tied for first place in the Feature Story category, junior Jesse Conen took second in Sports Story, senior Elizabeth Cheupin took second in Feature Photo, and senior Estelle Atkinson and juniors Anne Griffin, Andrew Rosin, and Mohen Li teamed up to take second place in Website.

David was recognized for "The Disparity within Pennsylvania's Education System," a story on the economic disparity between school districts in the Commonwealth and the various implications of this inequality.
Conen was recognized for "Radnor's Fall Sports Roundup 2019," a recap of the fall seasons for the RHS football, boys soccer, field hockey, girls soccer, volleyball, and girls tennis teams.

Cheupin was recognized for her feature photograph that accompanied Estelle's "LM Week 2019: The 123rd Meeting." The winning photograph featured a senior boy crowdsurfing during a dance party in the school's cafeteria during the school's annual Lower Merion spirit week.
Atkinson, Griffin, Rosin, and Li took second place in the Website category for the design on the Radnorite website. During Summer 2019, Atkinson and Griffin created an entirely new website design focused on showcasing all facets of the paper including Radnor Beat, Currents, Opinion, Arts and Personals. Rosin and Li were recognized for their design of The Radish, the Radnorite's satirical sub-site.
The Student Keystone Media Awards contest recognizes high school and college journalism that provides relevance, integrity, and initiative in serving readers. Any student at any public, private or parochial Pennsylvania high school, college or university who has had his or her material published in the school newspaper may enter the contest. Students who have had their work published on a digital news site may enter the contest provided the site meets the criteria as outlined in the contest rules. Awards will be mailed to students in the coming weeks.
"We at the Radnorite strive to generate community through publishing work of interest to the local youth culture," the paper says on its website. "We value keeping current in the marketplace, pushing on the boundaries of traditional journalism and exploring unique mechanisms of promoting and distributing our work–always with an eye to inform, engage, and challenge our readers."
