Radnor Student Wins Delco Poetry Contest

Radnor Township School District students continue to shine and student poet Georgia Henderson is one of the latest to make headlines.

WAYNE, PA – Radnor Township School District truly has some stellar students in its buildings. Recently we shared announcements of Radnor students winning prestigious scholarships and moving on to national competitions, and now we have another highlight to share.

Radnor Middle School eighth grader Georgia Henderson recentlywon first prize in her category for her original poetry in the Delaware County-wide 28th Annual Young Poets Competition, the district said.

"Georgia performed her work at the ceremony with passion and confidence,making us all proud," teacher Amy McNally said. "It was an awesome moment."

According to the district, the competition was held throughout the Delaware County school and library systems and garnered thousands of entries from students.

Event sponsors included the Delaware County Library System, the Mad Poets Society, the Rose Tree Media Optimists Club, the Pennsylvania Poetry Society and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, the district said.

The contest was judged by members of the Mad Poets and the Pennsylvania Poetry Society, according to the district.
