In February 2020, Stephen McNelis announced his retirement as Radnor Township Director of Public Works. Mr. McNelis is the heart of the Public Works Department, always quick with a smile and warm laugh. He will be sorely missed, and we are saddened to see him go. However, we offer many congratulations to Mr. McNelis and his family on a well-earned retirement. As his last day is not until August 28, 2020, please feel free to wish Mr. McNelis a hearty congratulations if you see him around town.
“Steve has always been one of my favorite people to work with. I’m really going to miss his reliability, eagerness to solve problems, and his devotion to serving the Radnor community,” said Bill White, Township Manager. “There was never a time or situation where Steve wouldn’t drop what he’s doing to help out. He personifies character and integrity and is one of the hardest workers I’ve known. At the same time, I’m extremely happy for him and wish him nothing but the best.”

A graduate of St. Katherine’s of Siena in Wayne and Radnor High School, Mr. McNelis began his career with Radnor Township in 1990 as a laborer on the Township sanitation crew. Before being named Director of Public Works in 2018, Mr. McNelis worked his way up the ranks from trash truck driver, to operator/highway driver, to field leader managing refuse and recycling crews, and to supervisor of solid waste and highway departments. We are proud to have called Mr. McNelis a team member for the past 30 years and we wish him the fondest of farewells!
“I would just like to thank all parties involved. First and most importantly, thank you to my family. There have been many missed dinners, family events and late hours,” said Mr. McNelis. “Thank you to my co-workers who have made this journey much easier and to the Radnor Township Board of Directors for the opportunity and their faith in me.”
