Radnor Twp. Cancels Meeting To Elect New Board President

Commissioners were scheduled to vote on a new president as current President Phil Ahr faces child pornography charges.

RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA – Radnor Township's Board of Commissioners were all set to vote on a new board president at a special meeting Monday as board President Phil Ahr faces charges related to child pornography.

However, the meeting was cancelled due to a lack of public notice.

The township said the vote will occur at the next regular board meeting scheduled for Monday, Oct. 23.

Ahr was arrested on Wednesday, Oct. 11 after turning himself into Delaware County authorities following an investigation into child pornography.

After Ahr's arrest, Radnor Township held a press conference where acting board President Elaine Schaefer said the board made a formal request for Ahr to step down from his role on the board.

Patch has reached out to township officials for more information on Ahr's status with the township and will update the story when more information is made available.

He faces 10 counts of disseminating child pornography, 50 counts of child pornography possession, 60 counts of criminal use of a communication facility, and 10 counts of attempted dissemination of child pornography.

He was released from custody on Oct. 11 after posting 10 percent of $100,000 bail.

He will appear for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 26.
