Radnor Twp. Reportedly Being Sued For 2011 Near-Drowning Incident
Family claims the township acted with "deliberate indifference" for their son's safety, report says.

A lawsuit has reportedly been filed against Radnor Township, claiming the municipality knew the dangers of an oft-flooded culvert that led to a near drowning several years ago.
Mainline Media News reports the Schweiter family filed a suit against the township in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia earlier this month, claiming the township ignored studies recommending improvements to the Aberdeen Avenue cluvert which then caused their 12-year-old son to be sucked into the culvert in 2011.
The family is seeking $150,000, plus legal fees, costs, and interest, from the township in the suit, according to the outlet.

The boy in question suffered various injuries in the accident, which carried him half a mile away from the culvert after he went to play in the flooded culvert caused by , and has left him in a "near-vegetative" state and requiring 24-hour care, Mainline Media News reports.
The suit claims the danger presented by the Aberdeen Avenue culvert was "direct and foreseeable," thus the township "acted with deliberate indifference for the safety" of the family's son, the outlet reports.

The suit also claims the township ignored eight different studies that recommended the township upgrade the culvert's safety, Mainline Media News reports.
