Register For Radnor's Citizens Police Academy

The nine-week academy will teach attendees about the inner workings of the Radnor Police Department with classroom and hands-on lessons.

RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA — Anyone looking to get better insight into the Radnor Township Police Department is encouraged to sign up for the Citizen’s Police Academy.

The academy is free for township residents and businesses and runs for nine weeks from March 5 through May 7.

Attendees will get a working knowledge of their Township Police Department.

Classes are held once a week form 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., lasting two to three hours depending on the week's topic, at the Radnor Township Building.

"When residents take a more personal role in their community and the protection of their neighborhoods, they will enjoy a safer and closer relationship with their neighbors and local government and the Police," according to police. "Residents who complete the training will be provided with a certificate of accomplishment and have opportunities to assist the RPD with various projects."

Below is the schedule for the academy:

  • Week 1, March 5 —Introduction & Orientation, Local Radnor Government Overview & Tour of Police Headquarters, Meet Radnor Citizen Police Organization Members
  • Week 2, March 12 — Patrol Division Overview, Use of Force Lecture
  • Week 3, March 19 — Firearms and Use of Force (Practical Station)
  • Week 4, March 26 — Highway Patrol-Traffic Safety / DUI, Accident Investigation /Motorcycles
  • Week 5, April 2 — Criminal Investigations
  • Week 6, April 16 — Central Delco SWAT Team, Bomb Squad/Delaware County Command Truck
  • Week 7, April 23 — K-9 Demonstration Radnor Emergency Management- Bike Unit Animal Control
  • Week 8, April 30 — Traffic Stops- Practical Exercise
  • Week 9, May 7 — Course Review, Graduation Reception
