RTSD 2017-2018 Draft Budget Has Tax Hike, Report Says

The drafted budget has a more than $1 million deficit.

Radnor Township School District's Board of School Directors are floating a $96.9 million budget that contains a deficit and a potential tax hike.

Residents in the township could see a 3.4 percent tax increase. Part of the increase comes from potential exceptions to allow the district to exceed the Act 1 index maximum.

If adopted, this would mark another year of tax increases fro the district, as the 2016-2017 budget contained a 3.6 percent tax increase.

The draft budget shows projected revenues totaling $95.4 million and a total expenditure amount of $96.9 million. If adopted, the budget would have a $1.5 million deficit, according to Main Line Media News.

The board will vote on adopting the budget draft and its Act 1 exceptions at its Jan. 24 meeting. The final budget will be voted on in May.
